MORE FOR YOUR BUCK

A Stripper With Something Extra

Fort Lauderdale Florida - The Strip o' Show is like a lot of other stripclubs across America. Large mirrors, flashing lights and a gaudy atmosphere that can best be described as "Las Vegas meets trailer park." What makes this one stand out from the rest is that it is the only club in America that can boost of having a 3 legged stripper.

Cloudy Day (her stage name) can be found most nights as the main attraction at the club where she performs as the "3 legged wonder from Down Under" The name is a misnomer since Day is actually from Lake City Florida and not Australia but as Miss Day puts it. "The 3 legged Wonder from Lake City doesn't quite cut it."

Cloudy Day has a leg up on the competition

Day was born in 1974 and her condition is the result of having a united twin grow partially inside her. Early in her mother's pregnancy a twin was formed from the same egg but did not become a separate fetus. As the stronger fetus took more nourishment and grew larger it attempted to infuse the undeveloped fetus into itself.

X-rays taken of Day's body show that there are several duplicate organs, extra bones, and there is even a faint outline of a hand visible on her left thigh. The third leg grows out from the side of her body and is much shorter than the other two legs. It can feel sensations and she can also make it move under it's own power.

"I grew use to it when I was a kid." Day told me one morning over a breakfast at her home. "It didn't bother me none. I can do must things like other people. Clothes are a bitch cause I have to get pants special made. Dresses are best since I can just put them on and sorta tie it down with some yarn. It's hard to tell that way unless I sit down and it pokes out at a weird way."

Day does not let having a third leg bother her in the least. She is currently going to nursing school and plans to become an x ray technician. She got the idea of being a performer from her Father.

The "Strip O' Show" where Cloudy Day dances.

"Dad said that when he was a kid there use to be carnivals that would come around and have all sort of freaks that you could pay and see. People would be lined up around the tent to see 'em so he knew they were making a god money exposing themselves that way. We were poor and the thought of making money off my leg seemed like a good idea so when I was 18 I came straight down and told Mr. Jesse that I wanted a job and I'd be the best thing his club had ever seen.

Mr. Jesse Hardin is the owner of the Strip O' Show and agrees that crowds have been huge since Day started there. "People are curious and if you got something they have never seen then you know they'll be coming. to take a look.

"I ain't nothing special." Day told me. "I'm just your average girl trying to make herself the best I can. But if people want to think I'm special and they want to pay me to see how special they think I am then there's nothing I can do about that. Hell, I'll even put on an Australian accent if that's what they want."

Day plans to continue both her dancing and education. She has made tentative plans during the summer to tour with her act nationally.

Russian 'sex day' to boost birth

could be a winning move for johnny

Russian 'sex day' to boost births

This year's grand prize winners drive off in their new SUV
The governor of Ulyanovsk region in Russia is offering prizes to couples who have babies in exactly nine months - on Russia's national day on 12 June.
Sergei Morozov wants couples to take the day off work to have sex. If a baby is born on national day, they will receive cars, TVs or other prizes.

Mr Morozov has declared Wednesday "family contact day" as part of efforts to fight Russia's demographic crisis.

The population has sharply declined since the Soviet Union collapsed.

This is the third year that Ulyanovsk, in central Russia, is offering prizes for babies born on 12 June.

This year, a couple won the grand prize of a sports utility vehicle (SUV).

The initiative seems to be paying off as the region's birth rate has risen by 4.5% over last year.

"If there's a good, healthy atmosphere at home within the family, if the husband and wife both love each other and their child, they will be in good spirits... So there'll be a healthy atmosphere throughout the country," Mr Morozov told the Associated Press news agency.

Demographers estimate that Russia could lose 40 million people - almost a third of its current population - by the middle of the century.

A combination of falling birth rates, emigration and an ailing health care system has led to the decline.

President Vladimir Putin has introduced a scheme to encourage more children.

Women who have a second or third child are eligible to receive $9,000 which can be used to pay for education or home purchases.

INSIDE THE DAFT PUNK PYRAMID

"Yep, there it is. The view from within the technicolor dream pyramid inhabited by those rascally robots Daft Punk. The innards of the very vessel Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo use to make tens of thousands of people all jump in unison and gyrate their hips in some grand, cosmic harmony. Pretty sweet, although it doesn't hold a candle to the view from the outside.

The image comes courtesy of mixmag (via The Daily Swarm), to whom Bangalter also revealed some secrets regarding Daft Punk's live sets and equipment of choice. Namely:

1. ABLETON
"The show revolves around Ableton Live software on custom made super-computers, which we remotely access and control with Behringer BCR2000 midi controllers."

2. SCREENS
"Next to the ethernet remote computer screens there are four Minimoog Voyagers, the classic analog synthesizers. They're a 30-year old design."

3. MOOGS
"We can mix, shuffle, trigger loops, filter, distort samples, EQ in and out, transpose or destroy and deconstruct synth lines. We keep some surprises on the side too!"

4. VISUALS
"There's a direct connection between our rig and the lights and visuals of the show. The light and video engineers can also add or control layers during the show."

5. SYNTHS
"Inside the pyramid are synthesizers and remote controls connected to the rest of the music equipment and computers, which are in rack-mounted towers off stage."

6. TEAMWORK
"Working the music equipment, lighting and video equipment, and building the pyramid for each show takes around 10 people, including both of us."

So wait, how do you launch the photon torpedoes?

And if your head's already spinning from thoughts of that forthcoming Daft Punk live CD (it's no live DVD, but we'll take it), here's something to keep the momentum churning: The Alive 2007 tour document is apparently set for release in November.
